Music review: NIN – The Slip

    NIN: The Slip

NIN’s first full free album, The Slip, was released a couple of days ago and I’m just getting around to listening to it for about the 3rd or 4th time so I figured I’d give it a short review.

Here goes, this is what I was expecting from Ghosts. Now, don’t get me wrong- I really enjoyed Ghosts I-IV, and I didn’t mind paying for $5 for II-IV. Hell, I wouldn’t have minded $15 or even $20 for Ghosts. It was just an instrumental album, which isn’t what I was looking for in the Ghosts release, however, it makes a wonderful background soundtrack for when I need to study.

When I hear about a new nine inch nails release I don’t expect an album like The Downward Spiral, or The Fragile, because I know Trent Reznor is a guy who likes to make something then to move on and not sit and dwell on the past. The guy has put out some amazing frickin’ albums, my favorite of which is The Fragile. I expect something innovative, original, and beautiful, from them every time the make a release- which I feel we got from BOTH Ghosts I-IV and The Slip.

I don’t know what your talking about. I know plenty of people who have gotten free NIN albums before this one. See I downloaded this one, but I probably won’t listen to it for a while. Try as I might, I’m just not that big a fan.

If you like NIN you may be interested in the album I just finished last month. It is also available free. Licensed with the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Licence. This licence lets you use this music for commercial products or make remixes or other derivative works, so long as you give credit to the original artists.

Politics Apocalypse is political and subversive post-industrial rock with an interesting mix of classical instruments, guitars, electronic beats, and a small dash of aussie hip-hop. You can download the whole 11 track album at no cost at our website.

We are also doing a name your own price CD (starting at cost price).

It would be great if you reviewed my new album on your blog. I love to read feedback positive or critical.

Hey Cliffe I will try and review the album, I already downloaded it and have been giving it a listen but I need to put in on my iPod and listen to it while I’m driving. Look forward to a review of Politics Apocalypse!

Btw, I love the Creative Commons license.
