    Penny-Arcade and PvP: D&D 4th Edition

In one of the coolest promotional ideas I’ve seen to date, Penny-Arcade’s Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins (better known as Gabe and Tycho, respectively) and PvPs Scott Kurtz teamed up with Wizards of the Coast in anticipation of the release of the 4th edition of Dungeons and Dragons to play a game - and they recorded the audio. You can either download it from the linked site or put the RSS URL into iTunes and have it download automatically every time it comes out!

While I was working on a project I listened to the podcast and was laughing my ass off, it was funny and very cool to listen to people with different levels of experience with pen and paper role playing games playing a game together, from naming their characters to the end of their first battle it’s laughs and smiles. I haven’t played much of D&D since 3rd Edition came out and none of the Revised 3rd Edition (that actually really made me angry that there were revisions like 6 months or a year after 3rd Edition came out… so bitter about spending money there) but I have played some Call of Cthulhu and SpyCraft, both very fun D20 games - but this makes me want to check out 4th Edition when it comes out, so I’d have to say that this podcasting of a campaign with the brains behind two of the internets largest and most successful webcomics worked out so very well.
