So there really is no recent site news. I was extremely busy with my classes last semester, I had to bust ass and still drop one of them – the other I got a D in. Go me. Juggling classes and work is not something I’ve done in a few years and I’m rusty.
Anyway, there will be a real site update soon. I’m typing this on the train back from the San Diego Comic-Con (comiccon.org) listening to some awesome music, reveling in the beauty of the weekend. Saw some old friends, made some new ones. I’ll be doing one of my lame review/writeups that I do for each of the days I was there (Thurs/Fri/Sat) and hopefully posting some pics my friends took as I was an idiot and forgot my camera this year.
I’m deep in the trenches of site-redesign – I’m hoping to have a picture gallery, my blog, a new Wordpress theme I’m sort of designing right now (all a work in progress,) a pet project I’ve been talking about with a couple of friends that will include blogs for both of them and an aggregated blog for the three of us to publish to under the new URL we’re working on. So many ideas, only limited by my knowledge of coding and my utter inability to make good looking site designs (oh yeah, buying a tablet to be hopefully working on some artwork for the site as well.)
As you can tell – I have a huge list of things to do that will be making its way to a hard-copy paper & pen list soon and where I’m going to be slowly chipping away at front and back end things here. Check back and I might have a placeholder up with space for your email addresses so we can email you with updates about the site or just to notify you about when we launch!

I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been busy. Enough said.
I’ve got a lot to go over so hopefully I can get through everything I wanted to cover today; here goes:

Okami covers! Yes, the IGN watermark is not on these and I have to say that they are beautiful. I got them in the mail the other day (was sad to see only 2 then I realized that the original cover, less IGN watermark, is on the back of BOTH) and it was a very nice treat and a long time coming.
Next Mother3 fan translation patch released this week! I’ve not had the time to sit down with this one because I’ve been so busy with school and work and Halloween fast approaching but I do plan on taking most of November to eat turkey and play the English translation. Thanks to Chewy & Mato and the rest of the team over at The Mother3 Fan Translation site – I’ve been looking forward to this for almost 10 years and I’m fucking excited as hell! Also, go buy the Japanese version of the game! Remember it’s illegal to download a ROM unless you own the game!
There is a bunch of information over at the site about the Earthbound (Mother) series – including walkthroughs, an interview with Mother creator Itoi, and a link to a page that the M3FT has been working on in the background.

Continuing with Mother 3 news, a group of people are creating a guide for Mother 3 that imitates the classic guide that came with Earthbound. Complete with pictures of real clay figures similar to the artwork in it’s predecessor and a full walkthrough. For a $20 preorder (guide slated for release in early 2009) it’s certainly worth the price – especially with a free Courage Badge keychain and reduced shipping on Earthbound shirts when you order together!
Alright, on to comics this month. IDW released Ghostbusters: The Other Side this month. So far all I can say is: amazing. I’m a big fan of the artwork, similar to Stuart Immonen’s artwork from the recent issues of Ultimate Spider-Man, and the story is definitely shaping up to be a good ‘un!

I’m going to end this journal with a mention of a book I just started reading, it’s called “Alive in Necropolis” by Doug Dorst. I’m still not sure about where the story is going but it’s been a fun read so far – I should be done in the next couple of weeks, as I get 10 or so pages a night done before I get to bed, and I’m going to make sure I do a full review of the book (probably my first full review of a book outside on an English class. I’d suggest checking it out at your local library or buy it!
Until next time (hopefully less time than it took me to update this last time)

I’ve been really busy with the startling realization that my & my friends Halloween costumes might not be finished in time and haven’t really been thinking about writing or posting. So while I’m doing work on our costumes and shit I’ll probably be posting progress journals and pictures – so stay tuned for that. I am still trying to get in touch with my friend that is supposed to do some artwork for the site and I’ve got to remember all my passwords and shit so I can backup this thing on a regular basis and then finally upgrade to WordPress 2.6.
Hopefully a larger update later, I’ll try and have something to say or review (I won’t be doing a Dark Knight review because that movie apparently can do no wrong. Actually I can think of one thing but it’s so whatever-y that it’s not even worth mentioning.)

I’m working on a new layout for the blog right now but it’s still a couple weeks away. I’m trying to get one of my friends to do some artwork but she’s really busy working on stuff for TokyoPop and hasn’t been able to do commissions much less artwork for me.
I need to buy a binder or pad of paper so I can just jot down ideas I have for the blog as I have them. I know about 2, maybe 3 people read this (all my friends, and I love you for that) so I’m not so much doing this for attention as I am just to get thoughts and ideas (and reviews, yes, seems gimicky – but it’s just a way for me to think about things and put them into a little more formal presentation than my normally stream of consciousness first draft posts) down for posterity’s sake.

Last Monday I started a summer English class so I’ll be working on writing for that a lot and probably won’t have the energy or time to write much here for the next 5 weeks. Hopefully I’ll improve my writing skills while I’m in this class. Unfortunately I have a few reviews I want to write that I probably won’t get to, but there’s a good chance I can at least start them and will have something to post a few days after my classes end.
Other unfortunates: I’m almost 100% that I won’t be going to Comic Con this year, which is a bummer – I was really looking forward to meeting R.K. Milholland, Jennie Breeden, and Felicia Day (with the rest of The Guild)
Even more unfortunates: one of my a-hole friends decided he’d be just that and give me a copy of WoW two days before I started my class. Well, I’m not addicted, but I can see it being a horrible timesink which is not good with the start of my English class. Bugger.

There was a post on “Ain’t It Cool” news with a picture of the original Minutemen (like in the comic) in a 1940 lineup – check it out. Man, that is badass! I do have very high hopes for this movie, and I hope that I’m not let down by it. I know they’re leaving out one plot-thread (the pirate comic, for those who’ve read it) and that doesn’t so much bother me because it just added commentary to what was happening in the main comic. Hopefully they’ll film those parts and release it in something like fear.net did with the “30 Days of Night: Blood Trails” shorts.

Since my class ends today I will have time to tool around with this site over the next couple of weeks. I wanted to post here a few things I’m hoping to implement so I don’t forget and so people know that I’m actually doing things while I’m not posting (I also have a Twitter feed that gets updates frequently to let people know what I’m up to as well. Gotta love microblogging.)
More after the jump.

So in an attempt to be regular with keeping this blog up to date while maintaining the “quality” post I would like to strive to achieve I am trying something other than Scribefire. It was a decent plugin for Firefox, and it worked very well for what I was using it for – but I could not keep my blogs organized when I was offline (like in class, for instance) which is really horrible for me because I am very horrible at staying organized in the first place.

God, will I ever get to tweaking more of this theme than I already have? I thought it was going to be great, but the way it’s displaying images is pissing me off!
